What is a GreenRepair®

A GreenRepair® is a procedure that is cost effective, better for the environment, and minimizes waste in the operating room.

Sports medicine’s current pandemic: single-use instruments

Many sports medicine surgeries use wasteful, single-use surgical instruments. These disposable instruments cast aside during sports surgeries are piling up in landfills. They create a huge carbon footprint; imagine the sheer amount of energy required to manufacture, transport, and dispose all these single-use instruments – over, and over, and over, and over again.

This is not being a good steward of public health or our environment. We noticed that these surgeries were missing a sustainable alternative and took action.

Reusing surgical instruments keeps them out of the landfill and reduces the operating room’s carbon footprint

GreenRepair® products now offer orthopedic surgeons an eco-friendly choice to use sustainable surgical tools. The idea is to create a circular economy where surgical tools are reused rather than being tossed aside after a single use.

All GreenRepair® instruments – such as our quick connect handles, inserters, cannulas, taps, awls, drills, blockers and suture passers – are suitable for multiple uses after cleaning and autoclaving. GreenRepair® instrument cases are also suitable for cleaning and reuse.

A GreenRepair® creates up to 7 times less waste than a competitor’s equivalent surgery. Less OR waste equals less going to landfills and a smaller carbon footprint.

GreenRepair® applications include: Rotator Cuff, Labral, Brostrom, Achilles, and Bicep repairs.
